The MDS Story
A scuba shop has always been the dream of Dick Smith, affectionately known as "Scuba Dick", since he made his first dive in a northern Minnesota lake in 1956. After finishing the Special Forces Underwater Operations Course his dream came to fruition when Scuba Dick, along with his wife Noreen, added a Scuba shop in the basement of WildCountry. Scuba Dick became a PADI Divemaster in 1978 and a PADI Scuba Instructor in 198. He logged dive number 3000 Jan 2019 at Raja Ampat, Indonesia and is now at 3355. Noreen joined the ranks of a certified scuba diver in 1983 and has now logged over 1000 dives.

Midwest Diving Specialists is a 5 Star PADI Training Facility providing instruction in dozens of different specialties and all levels of PADI instruction, through Assistant Instructor. MDS has a great staff of Instructors, 11 Assistant Instructors, and 5 Divemasters.
